(BTW: The Banana’s in the above pic are frozen not moldy!)
Inspiration: As it’s the time of year when family comes into the foreground, I’ve been missing my great-grandmother, who we lost forty years ago. Whilst I never saw her cook/bake as a kid (as her arthritis made it difficult), my mom told me how she ran the cafeteria for the phone company for thirty years. So when I want to feel close to her again, I whip out and up one of her recipes.
This time, due to a pair of bananas past their peak ripeness — I decided to make my g-grandmother’s banana bread. And it turned out great.
My Slight Variation: Due to my stupid, stupid nut allergy, I switched the called-for walnuts to pumpkin seeds. I also added a half teaspoon of cinnamon for extra flavor.
Christie: I can easily see Miss Marple, Tuppence, or Inspector Japp baking/eating this sweet bread in a fit of waste, not want not. It doesn’t hurt that it’s effortless to make!
